Cost Accountant
Location: Monterey County, CA
Salary: $65,000–$80,000
Schedule: Full-Time | Exempt
About the Role
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to support daily accounting operations with a focus on cost analysis, inventory accounting, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys evaluating cost drivers, improving processes, and partnering with operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily and monthly cost accounting, including standard cost maintenance and variance analysis.
Analyze production and operational costs; prepare cost reports and trends.
Maintain accurate inventory accounting, reconciliations, and valuation.
Support month-end close: journal entries, GL maintenance, and financial statement prep.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling (CVP, variance, YOY).
Collaborate with AP/AR, operations, and finance to ensure accurate cost reporting.
Support annual audit documentation and requests.
Recommend improvements to reduce costs and enhance accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2–5 years of cost accounting experience (manufacturing, production, or operations environment preferred).
Strong analytical abilities and comfort working with financial and operational data.
Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (preferred).
Knowledge of US GAAP.
Highly dependable, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
