Our client, a leading healthcare organization in Nassau County, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of the accounting function. This individual will manage a small team, lead the month-end close process, prepare financial statements, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, hands-on leadership experience, and proficiency with Workday.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, and payroll
Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review internal and external financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights and support decision-making
Coordinate with auditors and manage annual audit process
Drive process improvements and efficiencies across the accounting function
Utilize Workday ERP for reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management or controllership capacity
Prior experience in the healthcare industry strongly preferred
Proficiency with Workday is required
Strong technical accounting skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
