Position Overview
House of Umami is seeking a skilled Chef / Line Cook with strong experience working on a flat-top griddle and fryer station. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality menu items while maintaining speed, organization, and food safety standards during busy service periods.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, communicates well with teammates, and takes ownership of their station.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to House of Umami recipes and standards
- Operate and manage griddle and fryer stations efficiently during service
- Maintain proper food quality, portioning, and presentation
- Set up and stock stations before service and properly close stations after shifts
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
- Monitor food temperatures and product freshness
- Keep kitchen stations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout shifts
- Assist with prep work, inventory organization, and kitchen cleaning duties
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Maintain consistency and urgency during high-volume service
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen preferred
- Strong griddle and fryer cooking experience required
- Experience with Japanese cuisine, ramen, stir-fry, or fry stations is a plus
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
