Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This is a daylight full-time Monday through Friday position! Competitive pay. Pay and duties will be based on experience and qualifications. As a Trailer Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing trucks and trailers to ensure they are in safe and in working condition.
Trailer Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trailers, including air brake systems, suspensions, and tires.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn-out parts, such as lights, brakes, axles, and couplings.
- Conduct inspections to ensure trailers meet safety standards and regulations.
- Fabricate or modify trailer components as needed.
- Perform tire changes and rotations.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on maintenance software.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Trailer Mechanic or similar role of a year or more.
- Must have strong knowledge of truck and trailer systems, including air brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems.
- Proficient in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- VA State Inspection License is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license with a mode of transportation to get to work.
- Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.
