Who We Are
Hotel Jackson is a boutique luxury hotel on the Town Square in Jackson, Wyoming. We are independently owned, personally operated, and deeply invested in this place. Hospitality here isn’t transactional — it’s an act of genuine connection. We believe in warmth, authenticity, expertise, and the kind of care that makes guests feel truly at home.
Our mission is simple: We are here to host. That means anticipating needs, elevating every detail, and delivering impactful memorable moments.
The Role
We’re hiring a Restaurant Host who understands that a warm, confident welcome is not a small thing. You’re the first impression of the entire dining experience — before the food, before the cocktails, before anything else. How a guest is received at the door shapes how they feel for the rest of the meal.
You’ll manage the flow of the dining room across lunch and dinner service — reservations, seating, waitlists, phone inquiries, and cross-team communication — with the kind of calm, organized warmth that makes everything look effortless. We’re looking for someone who takes genuine pride in that role.
What You’ll Own
- The welcome: greet every guest the moment they arrive — with eye contact, warmth, and full attention. This is the most important moment of the shift.
- Reservations management: manage the reservation book across both service periods, confirm bookings, accommodate special requests, and communicate guest details to the floor team before they’re needed.
- Seating and floor flow: escort guests to their tables with intention, coordinate with servers on section availability, and manage the pace of seating so the kitchen and floor are never overwhelmed.
- Waitlist management: provide accurate wait times, maintain an organized waitlist, and keep guests informed with honesty and warmth — never a vague or dismissive answer.
- Phone and inquiry handling: answer incoming calls professionally, respond to reservation requests and guest questions, and represent the Hotel Jackson standard in every interaction.
- Guest departure: acknowledge guests as they leave — a genuine farewell is as important as the welcome.
- Reception upkeep: maintain a clean, organized, and visually sharp host stand throughout the shift.
- Team coordination: communicate clearly with servers, bartenders, and management about seating, wait times, and guest needs so the entire floor operates in sync.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a host, hostess, or in a guest-facing restaurant or hospitality role.
- Strong understanding of dining room etiquette and the rhythm of a restaurant service.
- Experience managing reservations — familiarity with reservation platforms (OpenTable, Resy, or similar) preferred.
- Warm, polished, and confident in person and on the phone — with guests and with the team.
- Organized and composed under pressure: you can manage a busy door without losing warmth or accuracy.
- Strong communication skills — you keep the floor team informed and never leave anyone guessing.
- Availability for lunch and dinner shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Physically able to stand and move throughout a full shift.
Who Thrives Here
The host stand is the right place for someone who takes genuine pride in the first impression — someone who understands that a great welcome isn’t about a script, it’s about making a person feel expected and cared for the moment they walk in.
You’ll thrive if you:
- Are naturally warm and confident in greeting strangers — this energizes you rather than depletes you.
- Stay organized and calm when the door is busy and the floor is full.
- Take ownership of the flow of the dining room and communicate proactively with the team.
- See the host role as genuine hospitality, not just a gate-keeping function.
This may not be the right fit if you:
- Are uncomfortable with a high degree of guest interaction and real-time problem solving.
- Prefer a role with less coordination across multiple teams and service periods.
- Struggle to stay composed and organized when the dining room is at capacity and the phone is ringing.
Compensation & Benefits
We know Jackson is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. We’ve built this package to make it work.
- Competitive hourly rate tip share
- Medical benefits (full-time/year-round eligible)
- Subsidized ski pass select local perks
- Employee discounts at the restaurant/bar, and retail outlets
