Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the CNA/HHA provides basic nursing aide services to ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of our patients. The CNA/HHA assists patients in planned activities designed to make life more meaningful, to stimulate and support physical and mental capabilities to the fullest extent and to enable the patient to maintain social, physical and emotional functioning appropriate to their level of care.
CNA/HHA Position Type: Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited
Job Details and Essential Functions:
· Adheres to written and oral instructions for patient care as prepared by the RN
· Assists the patient with all aspects of personal care, ambulation, positioning and feeding as required
· Provides support to the family/caregiver regarding personal care
· Performs light housekeeping services that are necessary for the health and safety of the patient/family/caregiver
· Follows the guidelines for Standard Precautions at all times
· Maintains records of services performed and of apparent condition of patient, using documentation guidelines and standards set forth by Hospice of the Foothills (HOF) and partnering facilities, as well as documents in the electronic medical record (EMR)
· Maintains strict confidentiality of patient/family/caregiver information
· Attends and participates in team meetings, in-services, department and agency meetings and other related activities
· Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding patient care, conduct safety, fire, security and risk management
· Understands and adheres to the organization’s mission, policies and procedures and advocates its philosophy.
· Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service representing the organization to all customers with integrity and professionalism
· HOF may assign the CNA/HHA to any workplace setting based on HOF needs including office, RCFE, SNF and the patient’s home
Other duties as assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods or otherwise meet the needs of the organization
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Demonstrated proficiency in Hospice care delivery techniques competencies and procedures
- Must be able to relate well to death/dying situations and support the Hospice concepts
- Must have excellent organizational skills and ability for multi-tasking Must be able to complete required paperwork with accuracy and meet prescribed deadlines
- Must be able to work without continuous supervision
- Sensitivity to and ability to interact with various racial, religious, and ethnic cultures in the organization service area
- Ability to solicit sensitive information from patients and their families/caregivers
- Ability to remain calm with patients and their families/caregivers under fast paced, emotional conditions
Education & Experience Required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year experience as a CNA in a clinical setting
License / Certifications Required
- Valid CA Drivers License and a reliable vehicle for transportation to accomplish work
- Current evidence of appropriate car insurance
- Possess and maintain current a CPR certificate
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
