The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional and visual inspections on products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, documented standards, and customer requirements. This role verifies that all required operations are complete, documents results, and ensures only conforming product is released. The inspector has authority to hold or reject parts, but final disposition is determined through the Material Review Board process.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, height gauges, pi tape, etc.).
- Inspect products according to engineering drawings, customer requirements, work instructions, and traveler/router instructions .
- Verify all router operations are completed and signed off prior to final approval.
- Accurately document inspection results , including inspection checklists and nonconformance reports (NCRs).
- Hold and reject nonconforming parts in accordance with procedures; escalate issues to the Material Review Board for disposition.
- Communicate inspection results clearly with quality engineers, supervisors, and production personnel.
- Assist in maintaining inspection standards, work instructions, and records to support ISO 9001 compliance.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by serving as a resource in corrective action investigations when requested .
- Generate customer certifications to meet order requirements .
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other inspection-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in quality inspection or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and adherence to standard s .
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/QMS software a plus).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Adept in using fractions and decimals, as pertains to measurement.
