POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Intern will have varied responsibilities within the supply chain functions providing the opportunity to gain hand-on experience and apply academic knowledge in a professional business setting. This role will blend understanding of topical overview with assigned tasks and projects.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Sourcing & Purchasing
Gain understanding of procurement topics, including:
Assist in soliciting bids for purchases, to ensure cost-effective use of departmental budgets.
Processing requisitions as required within authorized limits
Procurement strategies for standard and non-standard materials, and customer-supplied inventory
Inventory Control & Warehousing
Gain understanding of inventory management, including:
Material management strategies and tactics
Incoming material receipts
Fittings counter stock and replenishment strategy
Cycle count program
Monitoring of inventory transactions, job issues and variances
Plan For Every Part (PFEP)
Production Control
Gain understanding of shop scheduling functions including:
Review of sales orders for material availability and capacity constraints
Process and release of shop floor paperwork and sub-jobs
Providing leadtime and shipping commitment to diverse sets of customer requests
How to resolve issues (production, receiving, customer, inventory, shipping) to ensure timely delivery of products
General
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Currently enrolled in an undergrad program at an accredited university.
Good communication and computer skills.
Additional certifications preferred but not required or a mix of education and related job experience.
Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Useful fields of study include business, supply management, engineering, and economics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer terminal. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Duties may take the incumbent onto the shop floor for extended periods of time to resolve issues or locate/coordinate orders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
