As a Senior Technical Editor and Writer, you will edit and write content for multiple departments, including civil and environmental engineering, planning, public engagement, marketing communications, etc. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong editing, writing, and communication skills.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Edit a variety of content such as technical reports and memos, environmental documents, planning documents, presentations, websites, internet articles, and more
- Write technical content
- Collaborate with project teams at any stage of the content creation process, from planning to proofreading
- Create and maintain Microsoft 365 Word, PowerPoint, and Excel templates and Adobe InDesign templates
- Update internal documentation and writing resources, such as the company style guide, glossary of terms, etc.
- Foster a positive content creation experience with project teams
- Produce consistent, high-quality work even with a limited amount of time
- Coordinate with other members of the Technical Documents team
- Produce user guides and documentation
- Follow internal workflows and processes, including quality control (QC)
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field
- 7-10 years of technical editing and writing experience
- AEC industry experience is a plus
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word
- Working knowledge of additional Microsoft 365 apps, such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel
- Knowledge of the Associated Press (AP) style guide and proficient in following other style guides as needed
- Work well in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, ownership, time management, and focus
- Ability to multitask
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, some that are a fast turnaround and some with more lead time
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions
- Passion for learning
- Comfortable working with a variety of content and project teams
- Preferred: Adobe InDesign skills (intermediate level)
