Childcare Group Teacher (Hornell YMCA)

Job Summary

Implements curriculum and daily lesson plans, supervises children and classroom activities, maintains child observations and program records, communicates effectively with parents, ensures a safe and well-maintained learning environment, and complies with licensing regulations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Abides by all licensing regulations.
• All other duties assigned by the Childcare Director.

Key Qualifications & Skills

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by the Office of Child and Family Services.
• At least 18 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
