We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Tax Accountant to join the team at our corporate headquarters in Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review sales/use tax returns
- Research and interpret state and local tax laws and regulations
- Manage state sales and use tax audits and respond to notices
- Support tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities across jurisdictions
- Maintain compliance calendars and filing deadlines
- Collaborate with internal teams on tax-related issues
- Stay current on changes in state sales and use tax laws and SALT developments
- Vendor W-9 verification
- Manage income and franchise tax payments provided by external accounting firm
Summary of Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
- 5 years of experience in state and local tax
- Strong understanding of multistate taxation principles
- Experience with tax software (e.g. Avalara, Sage) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
- Knowledge of sales & use tax and indirect tax compliance
- Familiarity with tax research tools (e.g. Avalara)
