What are the responsibilities and job description for the I&E Technician position at Hoover Energy Services?
Hoover Energy Services has openings for I&E Technicians to help expand our efforts in the fast paced, and growing oil and gas market in the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico.
Ideal I&E Technician would have experience in the following:
- Have a solid understanding and application experience with Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) to include the following: Knowledge of IEC-63111-3 programming languages specifically ladder logic, downloading and uploading programs, online edits, and troubleshooting logic.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot and correct control system wiring for transmitters, switch devices, and PLC output commands to an array of control devices.
- Evaluate piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), control panel and junction box diagrams, process flow diagrams and electrical one-lines.
- Perform configurations and be able to troubleshoot instrumentation to include the following: pressure, temperature, and level instruments.
- Perform configurations and be able to troubleshoot Coriolis flow meters.
- Perform configuration and troubleshooting controls related to variable speed drives (VFD)
- Troubleshoot and correct issues with positive displacement flow meters specifically pulse contacts and optical high speed pulse devices.
- Flow Computers and remote terminal units (RTU) I/O wiring, configuration, and communications.
- Strong knowledge and skilled in EtherNet I/P and Serial Radio installation and configuration.
- Have solid knowledge of electrical theory and controls for low voltage systems. Be able to troubleshoot problems related to control systems rated at 120 VAC to 480v
- Be familiar with NEC code and API code regulations regarding area classification and requirements for electrical components located within classified areas.
- Provide the primary technical support for assigned location(s):
- Responsible for installing like-kind replacement equipment, conducting start-up testing, and ensuring all programmable logic associated with the equipment/system is operational.
- Responsible for providing leadership/mentorship to non-senior technicians and operators (as applicable), and for providing/sharing knowledge/experiences with other technicians across the Company. The Senior Technician position must be able to train other team members and critically evaluate the skills of other technicians they are training and/or mentoring.
- Perform other functions as requested by the Supervisor of Operations
Required Skills/physical demands:
- 2 years experience with related field work.
- high school diploma or associate degree.
- Ability to work in a team environment or alone with minimal supervision.
- Be able to communicate verbally and in writing to other team members, as well as customers.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Be able to pass a physical and drug screen including random drug screening.
- Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and handle parts
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
