Hood Container Corporation is seeking a Bander Operator to join our team at our Wilmington, NC corrugated converting plant. In this role, you will be responsible for operating the unitizer and associated equipment, ensuring the correct setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to the process. You will help optimize efficiency and maintain a safe work environment.
What It Takes:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 6 months or more experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Preferred candidates will have prior experience in the corrugated industry.
A Day in the Life:
- Operate the unitizer and associated equipment, ensuring accurate placement of bands and stretch wrap according to proper setup techniques.
- Ensure the proper placement of unit tags, cover sheets, and correct stacking patterns.
- Scan barcodes on units passing through the unitizer.
- Create neat and secure units with the proper number of bands.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Complete necessary reports on production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
- Ensure unit quantities are correct and remove excess scrap from units.
- Report maintenance issues and work proactively to ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Adhere to the production schedule and report any scheduling issues to your supervisor.
- Comply with all company policies, including safety protocols and maintaining good housekeeping.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Frequently use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and humid conditions.
- Occasional exposure to high places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- The noise level requires the use of hearing protection.
