The Senior Principal Configuration & Data Management Expert. This role forms part of the Honeywell Aerospace CMADS (Configuration Management & Data Management ) team. As an individual contributor they will be responsible for shaping, governing, and assuring the adoption of enterprise‑wide Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) standards across Honeywell Aerospace.
This role works in close partnership with the dedicated Configuration & Data Management function, the Digital Team, and regional stakeholders to define, harmonise, and assure global CM/DM standards applicable to all programmes — including hardware, software, integrated systems, and digital / MBSE‑enabled programmes.
Operating without direct line‑management responsibility, the role leads through technical authority, influence, assurance, and governance, ensuring disciplined execution, regulatory compliance, and alignment with both global standards and regional requirements.

Responsibilities
- Enterprise Configuration, Data & Digital Authority
- Act as a senior enterprise‑level subject matter expert for Configuration Management and Data Management across Honeywell Aerospace.
- Work collaboratively with the central Configuration & Data Management owner to define, maintain, and evolve global CM/DM standards applicable across all programme types.
- Ensure enterprise standards align with recognised industry best practices (e.g. EIA‑649, ISO, INCOSE) while remaining adaptable to regional regulatory needs.
- Embed configuration and data management principles across the full product and programme lifecycle.
- Regional Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with local Configuration and Data Management specialists, country leadership, and Engineering and Programme leaders to ensure compliance with relevant regional, national, and customer specific CM/DM requirements (e.g. FAA/EASA/UK/MoD).
- Translate global CM/DM standards into clear, implementable guidance that accommodates regional regulatory frameworks without compromising enterprise integrity.
- Identify and manage conflicts between global standards and regional requirements, recommending approved deviations or updates where necessary.
- Act as a bridge between enterprise governance and regional execution, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of CM/DM expectations worldwide
- MBSE & Digital Engineering Standards
- Partner with the Digital Team and CM/DM function to define configuration and data management standards for MBSE, aligned with INCOSE / INCOSE² principles.
- Ensure MBSE standards integrate seamlessly with enterprise CM/DM policies and regional compliance requirements.
- Define governance expectations for:
- Model baselining, version control, and release management
- Digital thread integrity and artefact traceability
- Change control within model based environments
- Alignment between models, requirements, design, verification, and certification data
- Support consistent hybrid delivery across traditional and digitally enabled programmes
- Governance, Compliance & Assurance
- Conduct enterprise and regional assurance activities, audits, and independent reviews to verify adherence to CM/DM standards, contracts, and regulatory obligations.
- Identify non compliances or deviations and raise Corrective Action Requests (CARs) where required.
- Track, challenge, and verify closure and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Safeguard configuration status accounting, data integrity, traceability, and audit readiness across global programmes.
- Act as a senior authority in internal audits, customer reviews, and regulatory or certification assessments, including region specific compliance reviews.
- Programme & Delivery Oversight
- Provide senior CM/DM governance and assurance support to complex programmes to enable delivery to quality, schedule, and budget commitments.
- Review and challenge configuration and data management plans to ensure alignment with both global standards and regional requirements.
- Influence programme teams to maintain disciplined execution through effective configuration and data control.
- Support programme reporting on compliance, assurance, and risk status.
- Standardisation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify trends, systemic issues, or regional challenges affecting CM/DM compliance.
- Feed insights back into enterprise standards and governance frameworks to continuously improve clarity, applicability, and effectiveness.
- Support automation, tooling, and digital enablement initiatives alongside the Digital Team and CM/DM function.
- Promote consistent, repeatable, and scalable CM/DM practices across Honeywell Aerospace
- Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with:
- Central Configuration & Data Management leadership
- Local CM/DM specialists
- Country and regional leaders
- Engineering, Programme, Quality, Supply Chain, and Digital teams
- Act as a trusted advisor and coach, helping teams understand and correctly apply CM/DM standards.
- Influence behavioural change and compliance through credibility, evidence, and technical leadership rather than positional authority.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for configuration, data, digital, and regional compliance issues.

By partnering with central CM/DM leadership, regional specialists, and programme leaders, the Senior Principal Configuration & Data Management Expert ensures Honeywell Aerospace consistently complies with global and regional configuration requirements, while enabling safe, compliant, and digitally enabled programme delivery worldwide.
YOU MUST HAVE
- BSc, Engineering, Project Management, Business degree or min 5 Year on the job Technical Project Management experience.
- Configuration & Data Management Qualifications are desirable
- Direct Project Management experience of $50K to $2M projects across technical teams preferably in Aerospace.
- Demonstrable ability to lead and influence others
- Proven experience in project management including budget ownership/management, resource allocation, scheduling, forecasting and planning.
- Capacity to deliver against multiple objectives in complex matrix management environment.
- Strong customer relation skills with total commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Must be IT literate and confident in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Strong understanding of HCM (Hardware configuration Management), SCM (Software Configuration Management) and DM (Data Management) processes and tools would be advantageous.
- Experience in the Defence industry would be desirable
