Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including home health, assisted living, and group homes. This role involves working closely with clients to enhance their quality of life through personalized care and support.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide patient care by monitoring vital signs and observing changes in health status.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Administer medications as per care plans and document accordingly while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Assist with personal hygiene and grooming routines to promote dignity and comfort.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans effectively.
- Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism, is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Understanding of care plans and the ability to follow them accurately is necessary.
