Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong understanding of patient care principles, particularly for individuals with disabilities, dementia, or Alzheimer’s.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients while promoting independence.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client health status.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or memory care needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in condition.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the needs of clients.
- Experience in meal preparation and cooking for individuals with dietary needs.
- Understanding of dementia care principles and techniques for working with seniors.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
