Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Driving Caregiver to provide essential transportation and personal care support to clients in need. This role involves assisting individuals with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within their home or community settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care, disability support, or home health services, along with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality patient care.
Duties
- Safely transport clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other scheduled activities using company vehicles or personal transportation.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, medication adherence, and overall well-being.
- Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs in accordance with care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, patient observations, and any changes in condition following HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning living areas to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and working with people with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient support and safety during caregiving activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively in emergencies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior care, home & community care, assisted living, nursing home experience, or long-term care settings.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and dementia or Alzheimer's care is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to safely operate transportation for clients.
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to lift heavy loads when necessary (e.g., Hoyer lifts) and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when working with individuals who have disabilities or cognitive impairments.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus.
