Job Overview
Looking for a rewarding position where you can be a part of a team that includes feline and canine companions? Homeward Bound is a 501(c)3 animal shelter supporting the community of Addison County, VT. You'll be the front face of the shelter as visitors, adopters, volunteers and everyone who comes to the shelter encounters. A friendly, fun and welcoming attitude is a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures a clean and inviting front desk space, lobby and public areas
- Greets and directs visitors as appropriate
- Ensures that all adoption and program paperwork is up to date
- Responds to and refers shelter email and phone calls as appropriate
- Assists with seasonal events such as mailings and resource production
- Disperses donations brought in by the public & maintains lobby store
- Serves as the primary contact for and maintains all Third-Party postings on our website
- Assist with the PetCORE program administration
- Handles check-in for all animals arriving for surgery or other medical visits
- Provides adoption support and gathers supplies for adoption ‘go-home’ bags
- Assists adoption counselors with adoption paperwork as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical ability to walk and/or stand throughout a normal workday
- Bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and reaching required throughout a normal workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Working conditions include working alone, subject to frequent interruptions, and dealing with emotional pet owners
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or GED
- Must have attention to detail
- Ability and initiative; works with minimal supervision and direction
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to engage the community and provide a positive experience for volunteers and potential adopters
- Genuine affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace
- Possesses good technology skills—can manage applications within Office, email, and website submission
- Willingness to attend trainings and other professional development opportunities
- Treat people and animals with respect; contribute to effective teamwork; and, foster public relations beneficial to the shelter and its programs
- Willingness to work weekends
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
