Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure their comfort and dignity.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report any changes or concerns promptly.
- Support medication administration following established care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties, including laundry, room tidying, and sanitation of common areas.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers; assist with mobility exercises to foster independence.
- Document care activities accurately in patient records and update care plans regularly to reflect evolving needs.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive atmosphere that respects each resident’s preferences and dignity.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous.
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, HIPAA compliance training, and medication administration are required or highly valued.
- Experience with hospice or end-of-life care enhances your ability to provide compassionate support during sensitive times.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts is essential for resident transfers.
- Familiarity with creating and following personalized care plans ensures tailored support for each individual’s unique needs.
