Structural Steel and Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician

What You’ll Do

• Decode blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan each job.
• Cut, form, and prep materials using saws, grinders, press brakes, shears, and CNC equipment.
• Assemble and fit parts; perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding to finalize builds.
• Conduct quality checks—dimensions, fit, and finish—to meet design and shop standards.
• Identify issues early and correct them to keep throughput on target.
• Clean, maintain, and safely operate tools and machines; report malfunctions promptly.
• Follow safety procedures at all times, wear required PPE, and adhere to OSHA and company policies.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and peers; communicate progress and improvement ideas.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in fabrication/welding preferred.
• Prior experience in metal fabrication, welding, or related shop work.
• Fluent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and prints.
• Demonstrated skill with MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
• Comfort operating common fabrication machinery and hand tools.
• Detail-driven, precise, and able to solve problems independently.

Preferred Certifications

• Welding certification (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred.
• Forklift certification a plus.

Physical Requirements & Environment

• Lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
• Extended periods of standing, bending, and varied working positions.
• Comfort operating in noisy, dusty, and hot environments.
