We are seeking a
strategic and hands-on Director of Human Resources
to lead all HR operations for certified and non-certified staff in our public school district. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role provides the opportunity to shape HR practices that directly support our staff and students.
What You'll Do
As Director of HR, you will:
- Provide
direct supervision to a small HR team (2–3 staff)
, fostering professional growth and collaboration. - Oversee HR functions including staffing, payroll, benefits, certifications, and substitute coverage.
- Ensure
HR compliance
with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, labor law, etc.), while keeping policies and practices up to date with legislative changes. - Advise administrators on employee relations and lead performance appraisal processes.
- Play a key role in
collective bargaining
and labor relations. - Drive HR initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
- 8 years of HR, benefits, or payroll experience
, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role. - Prior experience in
K–12 public schools
or a related educational environment is required. - Strong knowledge of
employment law, HR compliance, and best practices. - Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in HR systems such as Frontline or ERP platforms.
