Overview
The Division Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the performance, growth, and operational execution of a telecom construction division in the San Diego market. This position manages multiple Project Managers and Supervisors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining strong customer relationships. The role includes full P&L ownership, team development, and oversight of a growing portfolio of telecom and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and execute the division’s annual business plan
- Oversee multiple Project Managers and Supervisors, driving accountability and performance
- Maintain full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance
- Ensure projects meet or exceed gross margin targets and cost expectations
- Champion a strong safety culture, driving compliance, training, and incident prevention initiatives
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers and utility partners
- Manage contract negotiations, service agreements, and high-level operational issues
- Allocate resources effectively, including labor, equipment, and materials, to maximize efficiency
- Support and develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Coordinate daily operations including crew readiness, project execution, and field support
- Build and maintain relationships across approximately 8–10 active customers
- Identify opportunities for business growth and expansion within the region
- Conduct site visits and maintain visibility across active projects
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in utility construction and telecom project management
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple teams, including Project Managers and Supervisors
- Strong understanding of telecom construction, including underground and aerial environments
- Demonstrated experience with P&L management, budgeting, and financial forecasting
- Experience with contract management, change orders, and customer relationship management
- Ability to interpret construction documentation and oversee project execution
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational oversight
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in utility construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong knowledge of telecom industry trends and regulatory requirements
- Experience leading through managers (managing leaders vs. individual contributors)
- Business development and customer relationship growth experience
Work Environment / Additional Information
- Based in San Diego (Miramar area) with a mix of office, field, and customer-facing responsibilities
- Oversight of a team including approximately 2 Project Managers and 3 Supervisors
- Supports a business unit generating approximately $2M in annual revenue
- Work includes telecom-focused projects with some developer-related work
- Local travel within the San Diego area is required; occasional out-of-state travel (limited)
- Company vehicle provided (take-home)

Compensation
- Base salary starting at approximately $95,000 annually
