Senior Bankruptcy Attorney – Creditors’ Rights

About the Opportunity

Our client, a respected law firm with a strong creditors’ rights and default servicing practice, is seeking a Senior Bankruptcy Attorney to join their team. This role focuses on representing institutional mortgage lenders and servicers in high-volume bankruptcy matters throughout Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience protecting secured-creditor interests in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcies and will be comfortable independently managing matters from initial referral through final resolution. In addition to handling a robust caseload, this attorney will serve as a valued resource to colleagues by offering guidance on bankruptcy procedures, strategy, and portfolio management.

Candidates with direct experience representing mortgage lenders, servicers, banks, or other secured creditors are strongly encouraged to apply. Admission in New Jersey and/or New York is a plus.

What You'll Be Doing

• Represent institutional mortgage lenders and servicers in bankruptcy proceedings across Pennsylvania.
• Manage a high-volume portfolio of bankruptcy matters from referral through final resolution.
• Draft, review, and file bankruptcy pleadings, including proofs of claim, motions for relief from stay, objections to confirmation, notices of payment changes, and related filings.
• Evaluate Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 plans and develop strategic responses or objections.
• Appear at hearings, mediations, conferences, and other court proceedings throughout Pennsylvania.
• Handle matters involving loss mitigation, loan modifications, payment disputes, escrow issues, and post-petition compliance.
• Counsel clients on bankruptcy-related legal issues, mortgage servicing requirements, regulatory matters, and investor guidelines.
• Research and analyze legal developments, statutes, case law, and procedural updates to provide informed recommendations.
• Identify legal risks, develop effective case strategies, and work toward favorable client outcomes.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, trustees, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff on bankruptcy procedures and best practices.
• Ensure file integrity and compliance with court, client, and internal deadlines.
• Contribute ideas and process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across the bankruptcy practice.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active Pennsylvania Bar admission in good standing.
• Admission to practice before the Bankruptcy Courts for Pennsylvania's Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy law experience with a focus on creditor representation.
• 5 years of high-volume creditors’ rights bankruptcy experience preferred.
• Proven experience representing mortgage lenders, mortgage servicers, banks, or other secured creditors.
• Ability to independently handle bankruptcy matters from intake through resolution.
• Strong knowledge of Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
• Familiarity with applicable federal and state laws, local court rules, mortgage servicing regulations, and investor requirements.
• Experience appearing at bankruptcy hearings, mediations, and related proceedings.
• Admission in New Jersey and/or New York is a plus.
• Background with a high-volume creditors’ rights or default servicing law firm strongly preferred.
