About The Role

The Wax Operator performs investment casting wax injection and assembly operations, producing wax patterns and assemblies that meet dimensional, visual, and quality standards required for downstream shell building and casting processes. This role operates wax injection equipment, performs pattern assembly, and maintains workstation standards in accordance with Hitchiner's production procedures and quality requirements.

What You’ll Do

Operate wax injection presses and related equipment to produce wax patterns to established process parameters, cycle times, and quality standards.

Assemble wax patterns into casting clusters (trees) by attaching patterns to gates, runners, and sprues per approved assembly procedures and dimensional requirements.

Inspect wax patterns and assemblies for surface defects, dimensional conformance, and completeness, removing or flagging nonconforming parts per quality procedures.

Maintain workstation cleanliness, tooling condition, and material organization in accordance with 5S standards and production area requirements.

Complete production documentation including traveler records, inspection logs, and scrap reporting accurately and in a timely manner.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions, traveler documents, and assembly procedures.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail required for wax pattern assembly and inspection.
  • Ability to identify surface defects, dimensional nonconformances, and assembly errors.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurement and production count recording.
  • Ability to work at a sustained pace to meet production targets.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and team members on production and quality matters.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Environment: Wax operations production area; exposure to heated wax materials, injection equipment, and chemical release agents.
  • Physical demands: Extended standing and repetitive hand and wrist motions; ability to lift and handle wax assemblies up to 35 lbs. Vision – 20/20 or correctable.
  • PPE: Safety glasses, hearing protection safety-toed shoes, and applicable chemical handling PPE required.
