Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough understanding of foundry safety requirements including molten metal hazards, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to follow alloy and recipe-specific casting procedures and process parameter requirements.
- Attention to detail for alloy traceability, melt record documentation, and casting quality inspection.
- Physical ability to work in high-temperature environments with appropriate PPE.
- Ability to operate high-temperature furnace equipment safely and respond to process deviations.
- Effective communication with supervisors and metallurgy on casting conditions and quality observations.
- Environment: Active foundry environment with high-temperature furnaces, molten metal, and industrial casting equipment.
- Physical demands: Extended standing in high-temperature areas; physically demanding work including shell and casting handling; lifting up to 70 lbs. Vision – 20/20 or correctable.
- PPE: Full foundry PPE required including face shield, heat-resistant foundry coat, safety glasses, safety-toed boots, heat-resistant gloves, and hearing protection. (PPE ensemble will vary depending on task and as described in Job Safety Card.)
- Respirator: Ability to achieve medical clearance, fit testing and training requirements.
