- Responsibility to provide Production and Engineering departments with technical support in inspection reports, programs, data and analysis of castings, wax dies, tools, gages, and fixtures within the investment casting process.
- Provide Engineering and Customer with technical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, interpreting, defining and implementing Metrology ‘Best Practices‘ of the Metrology Inspection, CMM programming, CAD definition and Optical 3D scanning.
- Responsibility to comprehend, interpret and disseminate information concerning customer specifications, drawings, models/castings and other information, to determine methodology necessary to satisfy any dimensional inspection and/or calibration issues.
- Provide a comprehensive knowledge of Metrology concepts, ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing, GD&T and NIST traceable standards to the Layout & Engineering community.
- Must be proficient in the set-up, program and operation of Metrology equipment such as:
- Basic Metrology manual inspection measurement equipment & surface plate setups
- CMM’s (DCC and/or manual)
- 3D Optical scanning or white light systems such as Capture 3D
- Vision system and/or Comparator
- CAD system (SolidWorks or NX)
- Required involvement in establishing department procedures, schedules, training manuals and developing less experienced technical personnel in a team environment.
- Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct, Safety and Quality principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. 2 - 4 years or equivalent knowledge / experience.
- Proficient in CAD modeling (Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Pro Engineer, AutoCad, or equivalent).
- Must possess effective oral communication, technical writing and organizational skills.
- Computer competency in general MS Office applications Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Metrology concepts, Advance Mathematics skills and Statistical Process Control or statistical analysis tools, preferred.
- Must be able to develop, comprehend and utilize Metrology skills such as Manual Inspection methods, CMM Programming, 3D Optical scanning systems and understand Calibration concepts and methodology.
