Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance:
- Manage a team: Supervise and train metrology, calibration, and engineering personnel, monitor productivity, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Oversee calibration: Ensure all gauges/fixtures, test and measurement equipment are calibrated, maintained, and documented correctly through management of tracking programs and schedules.
- Ensure compliance: Make sure all activities and equipment meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies while following Good Documentation Practices GDP.
- Develop procedures: Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training checklists, and calibration procedures based on manufacturer manuals, lab methods, and system requirements while implementing best practices.
- Troubleshooting and improvement: Lead efforts in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of processes to enhance product quality. Ensure accuracy of data supplied to customers, understanding that a customer is the next person to receive your work.
- Manage equipment: Coordinate maintenance, repair, and the purchase of new tools and equipment.
- Reporting: Create reports on quality indicators, equipment status, and other data as needed for stakeholders and management. Execute and deliver first article inspection reports in a timely manner. Plan and prioritize department workload, efficiency of resources, and continually assess resource needs.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related scientific field is preferred, although a strong combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Ideally, this requires 5 years of experience in metrology, calibration, and quality assurance/control roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of metrology principles, technologies/equipment (CMM, Structured Light, etc.), measurement methods, dimensional analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency with quality control processes, including CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) and change control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO9001, AS9100, IATF16949) and regulatory requirements.
- Solid experience utilizing Microsoft 365; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Background and understanding of Statistical Process Control, MSA, Data/Measurement Correlation is desired.
- Technical background in metrology and calibration is desired to complement leadership and communications skills.
