About the Opportunity
A well-established construction organization is seeking a
Project Accountant
to support project and corporate accounting functions. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone with strong general ledger and job cost experience who enjoys working closely with operations in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
The Senior Accountant will support month-end close, project accounting, and financial reporting, partnering with project and operations teams to ensure accurate job cost tracking and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations
- Support month-end close and financial reporting
- Track job costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, and change orders
- Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Assist with progress billings and retention tracking
- Perform budget vs. actual analysis and explain variances
- Support audits and basic tax compliance as needed
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
- Experience with job costing, WIP, and month-end close
- Strong Excel skills
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- ERP experience required (NetSuite preferred)
- Exposure to Yardi and/or ADP Payroll is a plus, not required
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
