We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Subject Matter Expert - Legal to work on a freelance basis. This role involves evaluating and improving how AI systems handle legal research, contracts, litigation workflows, and legal operations. You will leverage your hands-on experience with legal tools to create realistic scenarios, assess AI outputs, and enhance model accuracy. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge AI research and enterprise applications in the legal tech space.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create legal workflow prompts and synthetic case/contract scenarios for AI evaluation
• Evaluate AI-generated legal reasoning, citations, and workflows for accuracy and reliability
• Identify edge cases such as missed deadlines, hallucinated citations, contract conflicts, and billing discrepancies
• Develop evaluation rubrics and expert reasoning traces to improve model performance
• Provide actionable feedback to refine AI training pipelines and legal data annotation guidelines
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on legal research experience in corporate, litigation, or contract law
• Proficiency with legal research tools including LexisNexis, Litify, or DocuSign
• Experience in contract lifecycle management platforms like NetDocuments
• Strong understanding of AI model evaluation methodologies and legal reasoning
• Ability to design and implement evaluation frameworks for legal AI systems
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in legal documentation and workflows
• Prior experience in training or fine-tuning AI models for legal applications is a plus
