Executive Director (Onsite Operator)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a strong, hands-on Executive Director (Onsite Operator) to lead an early childhood school in Baltimore.


This is an opportunity for a leader who thrives in building structure, elevating team performance, and driving operational excellence. The school benefits from strong enrollment and a desirable location, and is ready for its next phase under clear, consistent leadership.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $100,000
  • Bonus: Performance-based
  • PTO: ~15 days
  • Paid Holidays: 15 days annually (including week between Christmas & New Year’s)
  • Childcare: Free tuition (space permitting)

The Role

As Executive Director, you will serve as the on-site leader responsible for daily operations, team development, and school performance.

You will lead a team that includes:

  • Director of Education
  • Director of Operations
  • Assistant Director


This role is ideal for a leader who can:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the administrative leadership team
  • Build a structured, consistent operating environment
  • Support, coach, and retain high-quality teaching staff
  • Ensure excellent parent experience and communication
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and daily school operations
  • Partner with ownership and central leadership on broader initiatives
  • Reduce operational strain by building team capacity and accountability
  • Maintain compliance and prepare for future accreditation goals

Ideal Background

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in:
  • Early childhood education (preferred), or
  • Education, childcare, or service-based operations
  • Experience leading teams within a structured environment (100 students or equivalent complexity)
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and build strong teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field.


Work Environment & Expectations

  • Full-time, on-site leadership role
  • Open availability required (including opening/closing shifts as needed)
  • Collaborative leadership structure with engaged ownership and central support
