What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Swiss Machinist (Set-Up/Operator) position at Hire Talent Group?
We’re seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Set-Up/Operator to produce tight-tolerance components in a fast-paced, high-mix job-shop environment. You’ll handle daily changeovers, set tooling, verify first-article quality, and keep production running on Swiss-type lathes for aerospace, defense, and commercial customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC Swiss lathes (e.g., Tsugami, Hanwha). Load programs, set offsets, install tooling/collets/guide bushings, and adjust as needed.
Execute frequent changeovers and complete first-article inspections; maintain process capability across small- and large-volume runs.
Read and interpret blueprints and GD hold tight tolerances (down to a few tenths as required).
Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, height gauges; document results per AS9100/ISO/ITAR shop practices.
Partner with programming and quality to optimize cycle time, tooling life, and part quality; assist with basic preventative maintenance.
3 years recent CNC Swiss experience with demonstrated set-up ability (not just operation).
Strong blueprint reading and GD proficient with inspection tools and first-article documentation.
Comfortable working in a certified aerospace/defense environment (AS9100/ISO 9001; ITAR).
Proven ability to manage multiple changeovers per day and meet production/quality targets.
- Hourly range: $24–$30/hr DOE. Full-time. Overtime as needed.
