Position Overview
The Banquet Captain plays a key leadership role in the successful execution of events at Hilton Garden Inn Kalispell. This position ensures all details of client events are delivered with precision, professionalism, and hospitality. The Banquet Captain attends Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings, oversees event setup and execution, and serves as the primary point of contact for event hosts during their functions. This role bridges communication between the banquet team, kitchen, and event planners to ensure every event exceeds guest expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Event Leadership & Coordination
- Attend and actively participate in BEO meetings to fully understand event details and requirements.
- Schedule banquet staff as needed for setup, service, and breakdown of events.
- Oversee and assist with the setup of banquet rooms according to BEO specifications, including tables, chairs, linens, décor, and equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate staff during service, ensuring high standards of hospitality and efficiency.
Client Interaction
- Meet and greet event hosts upon arrival, confirming details and addressing any last-minute adjustments.
- Serve as the on-site liaison between the client, catering, and hotel operations during events.
- Provide attentive, solution-oriented service to ensure guest satisfaction throughout the event.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure banquet areas are clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor food and beverage service to maintain quality and timing standards.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar to coordinate timely service.
- Support and assist banquet servers as needed to ensure smooth execution.
Team Leadership
- Provide clear direction and support to banquet staff throughout events.
- Train and mentor banquet servers on service standards, guest interaction, and event execution.
- Foster a team-oriented environment focused on professionalism and guest satisfaction.
