Job Title: Food Safety Officer
Job Summary: The Food Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing and enforcing food safety standards at every stage of fresh produce handling to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain product integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of processing areas, storage, and handling zones to ensure compliance with food safety protocols.
- Identify potential hazards throughout the produce handling process and implement preventive measures based on trusted food safety practices.
- Maintain food safety documentation such as SOPs, HACCP logs, sanitation records, and training materials.
- Lead and coordinate internal and third-party food safety audits and support preparation for regulatory inspections.
- Train staff in proper food handling procedures, personal hygiene, and sanitation best practices.
- Investigate deviations or food safety incidents, conduct root analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on food safety regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in produce handling, working with HACCP and SOPs is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of food safety systems, hazard control, inspections, and audit procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Technical proficiency with reporting tools for record keeping and corrective action management is a plus.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Food safety certifications such as HACCP, or similar are not required but are highly recommended.
