GENERAL DUTIES
The assistant principal/athletic director will provide assistance to the principal for the overall leadership and administration of the building and, as such, assume responsibility for all aspects of athletics, activities and school programs. As assigned, the assistant principal/athletic director will use necessary leadership, supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the development of each student to their fullest potential. Use of independent judgment and decision-making is required in matters not having established rules, regulations or policies. Inform principals, coaches, advisors, the student body, families, and the community of Hillsboro School District athletic and activity policies, regulations, and expectations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A valid State of Oregon Administrative License appropriate for the position
- A Master’s Degree with preferred emphasis in Education
- The ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrate ability to build positive working relationships, resolve conflict, communicate effectively with other employees and the general public from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds using tact, courtesy and good judgment
- The ability to make presentations before community groups and school staff
- The ability to work in a stressful setting
- Experience in coaching and/or knowledge of sports, activities, coaching techniques, and student supervision
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking two languages as determined by District screening tool)
- School Administration Experience Preferred
