Are you a natural leader who thrives on organization, accuracy, and building strong teams? Hill Bros Transportation is looking for an Accounting Manager who can take ownership of our accounting operations, lead the month-end close process, and develop a high-performing finance team.
What You'll Do:
You'll be the backbone of our accounting department—overseeing daily operations, managing 2-3 direct reports, and ensuring our financial data is accurate, timely, and actionable. From leading the month-end close to supporting year-end audits, you'll work closely with the Controller to keep our financial house in order. You'll develop budgets, analyze variances, implement controls, and leverage technology to streamline processes without sacrificing accuracy. This isn't just number-crunching—you're building systems, mentoring staff, and making strategic recommendations that drive business decisions.
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
- Significant accounting experience with proven supervisory or management skills
- Experience with Trimble TMW Suite or similar TMS (transportation management system) required
- Master-level Excel skills—pivot tables, macros, advanced functions are second nature to you
- Strong leadership abilities—you manage with both authority and empathy
- Detail-oriented with an unwavering commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Proficient with accounting software and always looking for ways to improve processes
- Understanding of compliance requirements and ability to implement internal controls
