ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for coordinating, verifying, and documenting maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and manufacturing uptime. This position oversees the administration of the Maintimizer computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, corrective actions, and equipment histories are accurate and completed in a timely manner. They serve as the technical liaison between maintenance technicians, production, engineering, and leadership by verifying that repairs are completed to company standards, identifying reoccurring equipment issues, and ensuring maintenance resources are effectively utilized. While this position is not primarily responsible for performing maintenance repairs, a strong mechanical and electrical background is required to validate completed work and support continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Automotive manufacturing experience preferred. Experience with preventative maintenance planning. Experience using a CMMS, preferably Maintimizer. Experience coordinating maintenance activities. Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance practices. Technical knowledge preferred in hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, mechanical power transmission, bearings, gearboxes, conveyor systems, industrial electrical systems, PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, CNC equipment, robotics, preventative and predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and equipment reliability principles. Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities, technical troubleshooting knowledge, data analysis and reporting, strong attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset, and accountability and follow-through.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities with production to minimize equipment downtime.
- Prioritize corrective maintenance work orders based on safety, production impact, and equipment criticality.
- Schedule preventative maintenance activities while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Coordinate contractors and outside service providers as required.
- Ensure maintenance resources, tooling, replacement parts, and documentation are available before scheduled work begins.
- Administer and maintain Maintimizer maintenance management system.
- Create, assign, prioritize, and close work orders.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Review completed work orders for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Maintain equipment history records and repaid documentation.
- Generate maintenance performance reports and KPI’s.
- Ensure PM compliance remains at targeted levels.
- Maintain equipment asset information within CMMS.
- Verify completed repairs meet company maintenance standards.
- Review technician findings to ensure root cause have been identified rather than temporary fixes implemented.
- Inspected completed maintenance work for quality and completeness.
- Confirm appropriate replacement parts and repair methods were utilized.
- Identify recurring failures and recommended permanent corrective actions.
- Support troubleshooting efforts for complex equipment failures.
- Validate that preventative maintenance tasks are completed thoroughly and documented correctly.
- Analyze equipment history to identify reliability trends and equipment downtime trends.
- Recommend improvements to PM frequencies and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Verify work complies with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Ensure lockout/tagout documentation is followed and maintained.
- Support safety audits and corrective actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
