Job Description
Highland Park United Methodist Church Day School is a great place to work with children! This position is responsible for guiding and caring for our young friends in our all-day, early childhood education program.
Reports To: Head of School, Day School
Ministerial Exemption: No
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Campus: Mockingbird
Working Hours: This is a part-time position work an anticipated up to 10 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Two days per week - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Spanish Teacher works as part of our teaching team to develop lessons appropriate for preschool students with an emphasis on colors, numbers, animals, and basic Spanish vocabulary.
- Plan, and implement the Spanish curriculum
- Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator to align the scope and sequence with other curriculum programs
- Communicate regularly with school administrators and other staff as appropriate
Additional Requirements:
- Experience working in an early childhood program required
- CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be completed while employed)
- Demonstrated skill in working with children, planning developmentally appropriate lessons, guiding children, interacting positively with children, parents and co-workers
- Commitment to continuing professional education
Education and Desired Skills:
- High School Diploma is required
- Early Childhood Education coursework or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred
