Apprentice Industrial Electrician
Purpose/Scope
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to join our industrial maintenance team. This role is ideal for candidates who have completed at least one year of formal electrical coursework and are looking to gain hands-on experience in an industrial environment. The Apprentice Electrician will assist licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems, equipment, and components
· Support troubleshooting efforts on motors, control systems, PLCs, and electrical circuits
· Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
· Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using appropriate tools
· Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems
· Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including lockout/tagout practices
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment
· Document work performed and report issues to supervising electricians
Physical Demands
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
· Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
· Comfortable working in varying industrial conditions (heat, cold, noise)
Work Environment
This position operates in an industrial setting that may include exposure to heavy machinery, high voltage systems, and loud environments. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
PPE Required
- Indoors: plant clothing, hearing protection, safety glasses, slip-resistant shoes
- Outdoors: coveralls, protective footwear
- With chemicals: goggles, face shield, rubber gloves, chemical-resistant apron
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of testing equipment (digital meters, insulation testers, source meters)
Experience with PC hardware/software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to read/interpret schematics, manuals, and work orders
Knowledge of AC/DC voltages (5–600V), instrumentation, motors, and process controls
Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical/electrical breakdowns
Education/Minimum Qualifications
· Completion of at least one (1) year of electrical coursework or equivalent training
· Basic understanding of electrical theory, circuits, and safety practices
· Ability to use basic electrical tools and testing equipment
· Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced electricians
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
· Familiarity with PLC systems and motor controls
· Enrollment in or intention to complete an electrical apprenticeship program

- Pay: DOE ($22.00 – 27.00/hour)
