Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking talented, self-motivated Special Education Coordinators to join the SpEd Leadership team. This position supports member district special education departments on due process and implementation of new trends, compliance, and rules. This position will serve multiple school districts and/or HVED level IV programs within the Education District.

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides high-quality special education services to 12 school districts and three charter schools across five counties in southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona.
HVED operates two specialized Setting IV programs: SAIL (Students Achieving Integrated Learning), which serves students in grades K12 with significant behavioral needs, and SPECTRUM (Specialized Programming, Education, Comprehensive Therapy, and Resources for Unique Minds), which supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Both programs are currently located in Winona, Minnesota.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Education required
- Licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Four years of Special Education experience
- Meets requirements of special education teaching endorsement
- Content of training programs must include a combination of curriculum development and the consultation process in special education or regular education
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess ability to problem-solve
- Must possess ability to coordinate with others and lead teams when necessary
- Must possess skills to be a due process facilitator
- Knowledgeable with specific case involvement and in-service
- Coordinates and supports curriculum materials, methodology, and related instruction
- Provides leadership in the implementation of new trends, rules' compliance, and screening early identification of children requiring special education services
- Facilitates the development of pre-referral activities such as intervention plans, Teacher Assistance Teams, and general education strategic activities
- Assists with designing, monitoring and coordinating district procedures to assure procedures are in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Assist IEP teams in problem-solving and creating plans
- Become a certified CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Trainer and facilitate CPI initial and refresher courses for HVED employees and member district employees.
- Travel among the HVED member school districts required.
- Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
