Commercial Construction Onsite Safety Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Onsite Safety Manager to oversee safety operations for an active commercial construction project in Branford, CT.
This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant jobsite, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, leading safety meetings, and working closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day safety activities on the construction site.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and onsite training.
- Review JHAs, JSAs, and site-specific safety plans.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Oversee safety related to fall protection, scaffolding, lifts, excavation, electrical work, heavy equipment, and other high-risk activities.
- Conduct incident and near-miss investigations and assist with corrective action plans.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, training records, and incident reports.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to maintain a strong safety culture.
- Stop work when an immediate safety hazard is identified.
Qualifications
- 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial construction or general contracting.
- Previous onsite Safety Manager, Safety Coordinator, or similar field safety experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and jobsite safety practices.
- Experience working with multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
- Must be able to work full-time onsite in Branford, CT.

- Competent Person certifications
- Fall Protection, Scaffold, or Excavation certifications
