About the Opportunity
Commercial Development Co. (CDC), a division of Sentry Commercial, is seeking an experienced Owner's Representative / Construction Project Manager to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will initially lead owner's representation services for a significant commercial construction project in Upper New Haven County. The project involves the expansion of an existing facility through the addition of approximately 35,000 square feet, with construction anticipated to commence in October 2026.
CDC has guided the project through planning, design, budgeting, and pre-construction activities and will serve as the owner's representative throughout construction. This individual will be responsible for protecting the owner's interests and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
While this project will serve as the initial assignment, this position is intended to become a permanent member of our development and construction management team, supporting future projects throughout Connecticut and New England.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the owner's representative throughout all phases of construction.
- Act as the primary advocate for the owner in dealings with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, risk, quality, and overall performance.
- Review and evaluate contracts, change orders, payment applications, and project documentation.
- Lead project meetings and coordinate communication among stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction progress.
- Identify and resolve issues before they impact cost, quality, or schedule.
- Prepare regular project status reports for ownership and key stakeholders.
- Ensure project objectives are achieved, and owner expectations are exceeded.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in construction management, owner representation, project management, development, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction, budgeting, scheduling, cost controls, and project delivery.
- Experience managing projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Owner's Representative experience.
- Commercial, industrial, institutional, nonprofit, healthcare, or warehouse/distribution facility experience.
- Ground-up construction and building expansion experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
