Job Description
Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinator to support the daily clinical and operational coordination of our Medical Unit. In this role, you will partner with the Nurse Manager to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting staff development, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This position is ideal for an experienced registered nurse who enjoys mentoring staff, coordinating patient care activities, and contributing to a collaborative hospital environment.
- Assist the Nurse Manager with coordinating daily operations of the Medical Unit, including staffing assignments, workflow, and resource utilization.
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing and ancillary staff, serving as a resource on patient care practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Support staff supervision and development, including participation in hiring, orientation, competency assessments, performance feedback, and ongoing education.
- Monitor patient care activities to ensure compliance with clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and evaluate staff scheduling and staffing levels to meet patient care needs and operational requirements.
- Promote team collaboration, patient-centered service, and positive communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
Experience: One and one-half (1.5) years of professional nursing experience. Demonstrated supervisory aptitude, such as experience serving as a charge nurse, team lead, or through completion of supervisory training and related assignments.
Licensure: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Hawaii.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one (1) month of appointment.
Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing may substitute for some supervisory aptitude requirements when combined with relevant clinical leadership experience such as charge nurse responsibilities, committee leadership, or staff training.

- Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.
Benefits
Employees working as Registered Professional Nurse IVs will receive step movement salary increases based on total recent RN experience (within the past 5 years) and satisfactory service with the employer. Based on the 7/1/2025 salary schedule and Bargaining Unit 9 collective bargaining agreement, Registered Nurse IVs will receive pay increases according to the following schedule:
$121,404- $126,276: Eligible after 3 months with the employer and a total of 12 months RN experience. $121,404
- $131,316: Eligible after 3 months with the employer and a total of 18 months RN experience. $121,404
- $136,584: Eligible after 3 months with the employer and a total of 24 months RN experience.
Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
