Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Shop Foreman to lead and supervise our truck dealership service department. The Shop Foreman will oversee daily shop operations, support technicians with diagnostics and repairs, ensure high-quality workmanship, maintain productivity, and help deliver excellent customer service. The ideal candidate must have strong diesel mechanic knowledge, advanced diagnostic experience, leadership skills, and the ability to manage workflow efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of diesel technicians and mechanics
- Assign repair orders and monitor technician productivity and efficiency
- Assist technicians with advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and difficult repairs
- Perform inspections and verify completed repairs for quality control
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, transmission, suspension, brake, and engine issues
- Utilize diagnostic software, scan tools, and OEM systems effectively
- Ensure repairs are completed according to manufacturer and safety standards
- Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance
- Communicate with Service Advisors and Service Manager regarding repair status and timelines
- Help train, mentor, and develop technicians and apprentices
- Review estimates, parts needs, and labor times
- Ensure proper documentation of repair orders and technician notes
- Support warranty repair procedures and compliance requirements
- Monitor equipment maintenance and shop tool condition
- Assist in improving workflow, productivity, and customer satisfaction
- Handle emergency repairs and prioritize urgent service needs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty truck or diesel mechanic experience
- Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, HVAC, hydraulics, and aftertreatment systems
- Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience using diagnostic software and scan tools
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and repair procedures
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL preferred but not required
- ASE Certifications preferred
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, and work in a shop environment for extended periods
- Comfortable working around heavy-duty trucks, tools, and machinery
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
