Overview
An infant childcare position is primarily responsible for the physical safety, basic needs, and early emotional development of babies aged 6 weeks to 12 months. Their daily duties include feeding, changing diapers, managing nap schedules, and engaging infants in sensory and motor-skill activities, while maintaining strict health standards and updating parents on their child’s progress.
Responsibilities:
- Basic Caregiving: Handling routine feeding (bottles and solid foods), burping, diapering, and maintaining strict hygiene standards for bottles and play areas.
- Sleep Routines: Creating and enforcing safe sleep environments, monitoring babies while they rest, and soothing unsettled infants.
- Developmental Play: Engaging infants in activities like tummy time, singing, reading, and simple sensory play to stimulate early cognitive and motor skills
- Emergency Preparedness: Maintaining up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications to respond to accidents or medical emergencies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintaining and following KDHE licensing requirements.
- Daily Logs: Keeping meticulous records of individual feeding times, diaper changes, and sleep duration using the childcare app ProCare.
- Communication: Giving parents updates on their child’s daily routine and milestones at drop-off and pick-up.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience working with infants or toddlers in a licensed childcare facility or similar environment.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire). The 18-hour Foundations class (or obtain within 30 days of employment)
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift to 50 lbs., bend, squat, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass state-required background checks, fingerprinting, and health screenings (including TB tests).
- Availability: Full-time hours, Monday - Friday.
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
