What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical RN - Transition Program position at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital?
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Transition program obtains didactic and hands on skills training enhanced with clinical preceptorship. This nurse will be responsible for independently utilizing the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for a group of critically ill patients based on HMNH’s policies, procedures and all regulatory requirements.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current California RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS provider cards required
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 60 days of hire
- Certified in field of specialty (CCRN, Trauma) preferred
- Critical Care course or equivalent experience preferred
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year RN acute medical/surgical/telemetry experience required
- Telemetry Care experience preferred

Physical Demands – Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
