Description
We are seeking a passionate, experienced Instructor to lead training for entry-level technician trainees. This role will combine hands-on instruction, technical coaching, and mentorship to prepare students for successful careers in our dealership service departments.
As the Instructor, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, facilitating both classroom and shop-based learning, and supporting trainees as they progress through the program. Your knowledge, professionalism, and ability to motivate others will be essential to the program’s success.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in both classroom and shop settings, covering core topics including basic automotive systems and components, express services, safety protocols and shop practices, tool use, light repairs, and introductory diagnostics
- Lead and manage a cohort of students and ensure consistent progress and development
- Provide coaching, feedback, and evaluation to students through written and practical assessments
- Collaborate with leadership to refine curriculum and lesson plans based on evolving dealership needs
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized training environment, enforcing safety standards at all times
- Monitor and report on trainee attendance, performance, and readiness for placement in Hennessy dealerships
- Serve as a role model and mentor, helping students build confidence, discipline, and professional work habits
- Participate in regular program evaluations, improvements, and planning sessions with academy leadership
- Support onboarding of new equipment and ensure proper use of tools, lifts, and shop resources

Requirements
What We Expect:
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician; ASE certifications preferred
- Prior training, mentoring, or instructional experience strongly preferred
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate’s degree a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds
- Passion for teaching and helping others grow in their careers
- Comfortable using online learning systems and basic computer applications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in a shop environment, and demonstrate procedures with tools and equipment
Working Environment & Physical Demands
Duties are performed throughout the dealer premises, both indoors and outdoors. Work includes frequent movement around the company facilities and the outdoor car lot to move vehicles. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The position requires regular and predictable attendance.
