I’m supporting a leading global technology consultancy in its search for a hands-on Snowflake Data Engineering Lead to help drive the continued development of an enterprise data platform for a major specialty insurance organisation.
This is a high-impact position combining Snowflake architecture, hands-on engineering, production support and technical leadership. You’ll act as the senior onsite technical point of contact, owning end-to-end Snowflake solutions while coordinating delivery across onsite and offshore engineering teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the design and development of Snowflake schemas, tables, views, Streams, Tasks and Snowpipes.
- Build batch and near-real-time ingestion pipelines using Talend, Qlik Replicate and Snowpipe.
- Drive Snowflake performance optimisation, including query tuning, clustering and warehouse sizing.
- Own security design across RBAC, data masking and row/column-level security.
- Oversee CI/CD deployment and promotion across development, test and production environments.
- Troubleshoot production failures, perform root-cause analysis and support critical month-end activity.
- Integrate policy, claims, billing and reinsurance data into Snowflake.
- Prepare trusted datasets for AI/ML use cases including claims triage, fraud detection, risk scoring and pricing analytics.
- Use Python, Snowpark and Snowflake’s native AI capabilities to enable advanced analytics.
- Work directly with business and technical stakeholders to turn requirements into scalable data solutions.
What we’re looking for:
- Deep hands-on Snowflake data-engineering experience.
- Advanced SQL, performance tuning, Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks.
- Strong experience with Talend ETL and cloud-based data pipelines.
- Python experience for data processing, automation or Snowpark development.
- Strong understanding of AWS data-platform architecture.
- Experience with data modelling, ELT/ETL patterns, CDC and data-quality controls.
- Exposure to Snowflake Cortex AI or supporting AI/ML data pipelines.
- Previous insurance industry experience; P&C or specialty insurance is strongly preferred.
- The communication skills to lead client discussions and coordinate distributed teams.
