Job Title: Life Skills CTE Pathways Teacher

Job Goal: The goal of this position is to lead the development and implementation of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway courses designed to prepare middle school students with essential life, career, and leadership skills for future success.
The Life Skills Pathway Teacher will play a key role in building foundational CTE experiences for students by teaching courses that promote financial literacy, health and wellness, technology skills, college and career readiness, and community engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans a program of study that is appropriate to the maturity and interest of students and meets their individual needs and abilities.
- Creates a positive classroom environment which upholds and enforces the school rules and is conducive to learning.
- The teacher will guide the learning process to increase student achievement in accordance with the curriculum and consistent with state and local standards.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required in a timely and confidential manner.
- Work with other professionals to determine special learning needs of pupils on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of specialists as required.
- Collaborates with colleagues, students, and/or parents on an ongoing basis concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
- The school professional adheres to the Board of Education policies, state rules and regulations, and to licensure standards.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and serves on staff committees as required.
Course and Responsibilities:
6th Grade Keyboarding and Computer Applications
- Introduce students to keyboarding, digital literacy, and computer applications
- Provide beginning exposure to business pathway skills and workplace readiness
7th Grade Health
- Teach comprehensive health curriculum with integrated CPR coursework and certification opportunities
- Promote wellness, personal responsibility, and healthy decision-making skills
8th Grade Finance and College & Career Exploration
- Teach personal finance concepts including budgeting, saving, goal setting, and financial responsibility
- Guide students through college and career exploration using career readiness tools and pathway development
Community Service Integration:
- Each Life Skills Pathway course will intentionally incorporate community service-learning opportunitiesto help students build leadership skills, strengthen community partnerships, and develop real-world career connections. The teacher will collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and community partners to provide meaningful service-learning experiences that support both student growth and community involvement.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- A valid Colorado Teaching Certificate endorsed in area of assignment (CTE endorsement preferred or willingness to pursue CTE credentialing
- Experience in health, business, career readiness, technology, or related fields preferred
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and 10 pounds on a frequent basis, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching and fine motor activity, frequently sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching at desk and floor level, firm and simple grasping. The work requires constant seeing, hearing, and talking.
FSLA Status: Exempt
Days / Terms of Employment: 160 Days / Nine-month position. Salary to be determined by the School Board of Education.
