HIMI is a Managing General Agency and Third-Party Administrator dedicated to supporting Hawai`i’s businesses through customized insurance packages and expert insurance consulting. Our Underwriter plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service by managing accounts, fostering strong agency relationships, and supporting agents in providing well-rounded and competitive insurance solutions.
Essential Duties
- Review insurance coverage applications for completeness according to HIMI and carrier partner procedures and guidelines. Determine appropriate market placement based on application criteria and needs of the agency and agent.
- Effectively manage book of assigned agencies including renewal management and account servicing.
- Provide timely quotes and communication.
- Assist agents in identifying coverage gaps.
- Comply with HIMI Service Standards. Meet service standard quality and timeliness guidelines for all HIMI carrier partners and their processes.
- Establish good rapport with agents to promote positive relationships.
- Promote a culture of outstanding customer service across the organization.
- Support organization-wide and HIMI diversification initiatives including cross-selling and product offerings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Strong customer service focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable experience.
- 2 years of insurance experience.
- Knowledge of multi-line insurance coverage, policy forms, rating, and manuals (preferred).
- Hawaii Insurance Producers License (preferred)
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
