1st Shift - Shipping Clerk

Job Summary:

The Shipping Clerk oversees all shipping processes, maintains detailed records, and ensures data is updated. More specifically, they are responsible for organizing, sorting, and transferring goods to prepare for shipment. They monitor company packages from start to finish, ensuring proper packing techniques and shipping practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manages the shipment of all products, materials, and supplies
• Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required
• Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment of products
• Tracks, traces, and updates the status of outgoing shipments
• Maintains a clean, neat, and member-ready area
• Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude
• Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments
• Prepares bills of lading and dray tickets for shipments
• Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed
• Performs clerical duties

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic math skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong sense of time organization and urgency
• Able to work independently and within a team

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 6 months logistics, retail, or customer service experience
• Forklift Certification within 90 days of job entry date

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock
